Club Constitution and Regulations.

History of the Club

The original Sheaf Valley Aquarist Society started in the early 1970's. It was a small but friendly club run by Frank and Carol Toyne. The club went from strength to strength. Eventually there was a very strong show team showing in many classes. The club also had a table show every month for members and a club league. Members did not show against each other as they all had different classes of fish, instead it was the show standard like a normal show. There were talks from many distinguished and interesting people in the fish world and SVAS would visit other clubs' nights, have quizzes, auctions and a great Christmas party every year. Every year a tableaux was entered into the Doncaster festival and in the 1980 festival SVAS had the best in show, a great Tinfoil barb, shown by Mike Kemp. As time went by people left the club for various reasons and by the end of the 1980s the club sadly folded.

In 2006, the club restarted and we hope that it will be a big success like the old club was. We have a good membership base and are steadily growing. The Chairman is Jamie Horne and the Club Secretary is Gavin Atkins, Alan Nortcliffe is our show/auction secretary.
Club meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at The Pheasant Inn, Barnsley Rd, Sheffield, S5 0QG. New members are always welcome, why not come along to the next meeting for a chat?
